PRESS RELEASE INGOs provnews_ide life-saving support to the people affected by the earthquake and contribute to their long term recovery, says AIN July 28, 2015 INGOs, members of the Association of International NGOs in Nepal (AIN) continue to work to address the needs of the population affected by the earthquake. The support came in response to a request from the Government of Nepal on April 25th and is provnews_ided within the framework of international humanitarian gunews_idelines. AIN organized an event to mark three months since the first earthquake. 87 INGOs out of 116 member INGOs of AIN showcased the scale and nature of the response in areas such as food and non-food distributions, injury rehabilitation, emergency health care, emergency education, shelter, livelihoods, water and sanitation, in all 14 priority districts and beyond.

The earthquake of 25 April 2015 and subsequent aftershocks have had a devastating impact on Nepal. More than 8,700 people have been killed and 22,000 injured, almost 800,000 houses have been fully or partially damaged, and nearly three million people need humanitarian assistance. Health posts, police posts, and other local government service delivery infrastructures have been damaged, as well as more than 45,000 classrooms, affecting the state's ability to deliver education, health and other primary services. Similarly, public property, infrastructure and historical and cultural heritage have suffered huge losses.

AIN General Assembly held on 9 June 2015 formed a new SC Steering Committee Team. Rajendra Mulmi, Country Director of Search For Common Ground has been elected as the new Chairperson of AIN. The other office bearers Sarah Blin, Country Director Handicap International continues as the Vice Chair and Ravindra Shakya, CD Restless Development as the Treasurer. Likewise, Sanjay Karki CD Mercy Corps, Arun Rana CEO Samrnews_iddha Pahad and Mark Galpin Executive Director of UMN continued as the SC members. Other newly elected SC Members are Dr. Prabin Manandhar Country Director of Lutheran World Federation, Delailah (Lala) Borja CD Save the Children, Davnews_id Smith, Regional Representative Dan Church Anews_id, Liz Satow, CD World Vision International and Udaya Manandhar, CD Room to Read. There are 11 Members in the AIN Steering Committee.

Dear Peter Paul We hear with great sadness about the dramatic passing away of three MSF staff in the helicopter accnews_ident today. We would like to express our sincere condolences to the MSF team in Nepal and to the families of the deceased. Humanitarian workers who die in the course of their duty makes a terrible event like this even more difficult to accept and overcome. Nepal Earthquake Humanitarian Response Code of Conduct Further to the Secretary-General's Bulletin: Special measures for protection from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse,the Humanitarian Coordinator is adopting a preventive approach to ensure protection from sexual exploitation and abuse by our own staff in the humanitarian community. The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to communicate, from the highest levels, the commitment to a zero tolerance for any activities going against its spirit and content.
