The workshop, facilitated by RTI activist and lawyer Tanka Aryal (of Citizen's Campaign for Right to Information, CCRI), oriented the participants on the various aspects of Right to Information, which led to an open floor interaction session on the issue.
"RTI can play a big role in promoting accountability and transparency of civil society organizations but has been neglected till now," sanews_id CBWG Coordinator Simone Galimberti.
Representatives of AIN members, NGOs, Social Welfare Council, media and National Information Commission attended the workshop. AIN Steering Committee member and Executive Director of United Mission to Nepal Mark Galpin welcomed the participants. Chief Information Commissioner Vinaya Kumar Kasajoo was the chief guest for the event.
A follow up workshop to this is being organized on 28th December, 2011.
Right to Information Act, introduced on 2007 by the Government of Nepal, provnews_ides the right to the citizens of Nepal to request and obtain information of public importance from public bodies, including civil society organizations.
