Workshop Participants Stress on Regular Coordination among Health Actors
In a workshop organized by AIN Health Working Group on May 3, 2012 on "Improving Coordination and Strengthening Partnership in Health" participants urged for a more regular coordination and communication among organizations working in health sector. The workshop was aimed at initiating a proactive dialogue to assess the priorities and approaches towards a more meaningful engagement of the efforts of the key stakeholders in delivering the best of health services for all. Welcoming the participants, AIN Steering Committee Member Mark Galpin expressed that the coming together of all major stakeholders was a remarkable opportunity to share, understand, learn and unite for a common goal.
The Chief Guest of the meeting Director General of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Mingmar Sherpa emphasized that there is a lot to do despite Nepal close to reaching the MDG goals. He remarked that one has to be more innovative in terms of creating health awareness and informing people about the available health services. Dr. B.R Marasini, Senior Coordinator of Health Sector Reform added that regular dialogue and interactions should be done to enhance coordination and cooperation among the Ministry, Donors and AIN Community. Dr. Lin Aung, WHO Representative to Nepal and Linda Kentro, Acting Deputy Director, Health & Family Planning, USAnews_id presented on the Health Priorities.
Likewise, Matt Gordon, Health & HIV Advisor from DFnews_id highlighted on the role INGOs could play in terms of being highly effective in delivering health services through good network of health facilities and brining in international expertise along with the funding impacts. Health Working Group Coordinator Netra Prasad Bhatta shared about the health endeavors and contributions made by AIN Members. The Plenary session was facilitated by Mr. Shanta Lal Mulmi Executive Director of RECPHEC. Presentation on the status of Mental Health and best practices on RBA were also made by Dr. Kapil Upadhyaya and Mahendra Bikram Shah of BNMT respectively.
