19th July, 2012
Representatives of 13 INGOs, all of whom are members of the Association of International NGOs (AIN), took part in a three-hour training on Anews_id Management Platform (AMP) at Hotel Everest on 18th of July. The AMP is an online web-based information system set up at the Ministry of Finance to keep track of bilateral, multilateral and INGO anews_id coming to Nepal.
Organized by Ministry of Finance, Foreign Anews_id Coordination Division, the training oriented the participants on the technicalities of information system and on entering the data into the system. The 13 INGOs will enter key information on the amount of resources they bring in Nepal into the information system in coming weeks.
“INGOs bring significant resources in Nepal but the government is not aware of it. Through this information system, the government will know how much resources the INGOs are bringing in Nepal. This is definitely a good beginning,†sanews_id Tilakman Singh Bhandari, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Finance.
“The system will reveal how much resources INGOs are bringing in which sectors and how much has reached the target population. The Ministry of Finance will also be able to track the flow of resources and monitor output. It will also help the Ministry in planning in the futureâ€Â, sanews_id Bhagwati Sangraula, Deputy Director at the Social Welfare Council.
The representatives of the AIN member INGOs appreciated the initiative taken by the Ministry and hoped that the contributions of INGOs and the resources they bring in Nepal would be recognized by the government in the future. “The platform has provnews_ided opportunity for INGOs to show the resources they bring in Nepal. We hope the contributions of INGOs will be duly recognized by the government and other stakeholders from now onâ€Â, sanews_id Amleshwar Singh, Impact Measurement and Learning Manager at CARE Nepal, who participated in the training.
The system has a separate category where the INGOs will have to enter the data on the amount of resources they bring in the country on their own i.e. excluding the funds they raise from local donors insnews_ide Nepal.
