The Social Welfare Council SWC had organized an event to mark the 33rd Social Service Day on 22 September, Saturday at the SWC premises. Rt. Honorable Vice Presnews_ident Mr. Parmananda Jha had graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with the Minister of Women Children & Social Welfare Badri Prasad Neupane and various dignitaries, ambassadors, development partners and political Leaders. A large number of AIN Members showed their presence. AIN Chair Ashutosh Tiwari along with Secretariat staff and former chairs, vice chair, country representatives were present during the early morning event.
SWC Member Secretary Rabindra Kumar in his remarks shared about SWC activities and also spoke highly about INGO’s contribution for the development of the nation. In his speech he mentioned that there are more than 250 INGOs and 35,837 NGOs registered under SWC. He added that these I/NGOs contribute more than 15 Arab in a year hence in order to make these contributions more effective, accountable and transparent SWC’s monitoring and evaluation system is being overhauled with new gunews_idelines, policies and regulations. He also mentioned about the enhanced IT and systematic database within the SWC communication system. Highlighting on the importance of the social service day, he appreciated and thanked all the social workers for their selfless work and contribution towards the needy and helpless.
During the occasion AIN Members Davnews_id Mc Conkey from UMN and Olga Murray from Nepalese Youth Foundation were honored by the Vice Presnews_ident with Social Service Award (Token of appreciation & cash prize of 21 thousand rupees) for their dedication and involvement in the sector since several years.
Likewise, many NGO personnel (Charimaya Tamang, Dil Sobha, Rajendra Mulmi..around 13) from various districts and sectors were also awarded for their contribution. Netra Jyoti Sangh was felicitated with Tulsi Meher award for their significant work. The Chief Guest Vice Presnews_ident and the Minister from Women Children & Social Welfare in their remarks spoke about the significance of the day while acknowledging the contributions made by the social workers.
