On 30 May 2014, Dr. Praveen Mishra Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population launched the Report "Mapping of INGOs contributing to the Health Sector in Nepal." The report reflects the contributions made by 46 AIN member INGOs including the districts coverage, budget and areas of involvement and expertise. The event organized by AIN Health working Group was attended by SWC Director Madan Rimal and USAnews_id Health Director & EDP Chair Shanda Steimer along with nearly hundred participants from various INGOs, civil society organizations, Health Ministry, Donors and Media.
During the event, AIN Chairperson Ashutosh Tiwari felicitated Dr. Parveen Mishra with a token of appreciation for his long standing support and gunews_idance to AIN Members as the Health Secretary. Dr. Mishra highlighted on the need of sustainable health projects with focus on reaching the unreached encouraging more internal development partners through innovative financing systems. EDP Chair Shanda Steimer emphasized that the budget sources should be clearly mentioned so that it will be easier to track how much funds are entering through which Donors in the health sector.
SWC Director Madan Rimal remarked that Social Welfare Council is responsible for the promotion, facilitation, co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation of the activities of the non-governmental social organizations in Nepal. SWC upholds one door policy and the Social Welfare Act 1996 is in process of amendment which will further ease in addressing the common concerns of INGOs.
Health Working Group Coordinator Mr. Raj Kumar Mahato made a presentation on the key findings of the Mapping Report.
